HDR viewer on iMac27 BigSur 11.2 and R17Beta8 still broken
Hi,
in the beta 8 an issue should be addressed concerning the HDR viewer in the Resolve UI.
I still have the same problem.
No matter if I work color managed or in ACES, the HDR image has always another display transform on top of the ones selected in the ACES/ODT or the color managed output colorspace.
It is easily noticeable, just switch the ACES/ODT to "no output transform" and there is still a somewhat normal image visible instead of the linear image displayed in Resolve 16.
I can't use the HDR viewer to judge anything. The exported clips seem to look fine.
Although the iMac display is not a proper HDR display, neither is an iPhone display. But the EDR/HDR workflow works fine in FCPX, Compressor and watching the result on an iPhone. So it should be also possible to do the same with Resolve 17.
Best
Daniel
