F9 shortcut

This should be simple:
When you set in and out points for a clip, and then you hit F9, it pops into the timeline, wherever the playhead is, right?
Cool.
I want to do that but for it to not carry the audio from the clip.
I know I can do this if I actually go and drag the clip while holding ALT, but no. I want the elegance of the shortcut.
Anyone?

Disable the Destination Control for the audio.

LEGEND. Thank you.
Uh, but what if I want audio from certain clips and not others?
Is there really not a shortcut for this?

There is. Look under the Timeline menu.

So, I see shortcuts to enable/disable video/audio tracks.
Not the one I'm looking for. I guess it doesn't exist then...
Thanks anyway!

its a hot topic for me..
a simple shortcut for inserting footage without audio is missing. it exists in every other NLE. could be with a modifier key, or a toggle, or just a different key. Track destination controls don't work if you have more than one audio track in your source footage (which for me is like all the time). and even if it would work, it would be slow. anyway, it's not the end of the world i guess..

You can mouse-drag from the source viewer - when the mouse is over the viewer an "audio" and "video" icon appear there (if the clip has both audio and video) which you can drag onto the timeline.
The new "Speed Editor" keyboard has keys which toggle "Audio Only" and "Video Only" for insertion operations.

how is it that people come up with this mouse drag solution when clearly a shortcut is asked?
even if i would be satisfied with the speed editor as a solution, i'm still waiting for it after months, no communication of what is happening, whatever the reason might be. but that's a different discussion
we're talking about a shortcut here, an extra hardware console shouldn't be necessary anyway imo.
this is what makes it a hot topic for me.

Perhaps this "Lock Tracks" function will work for you. This is what Jim was trying to explain. You can lock all audio or video tracks with a keyboard shortcut. It will toggle the function so is quite quick too!
It may not be called "Video Only" but it works in a similar way! It would be nice if the Cut Page Video Only/Audio Only functions were available on the Edit Page!

Thanks everyone for the replies!
Hopefully they add it soon.
But in the meantime, at least there's ways to do it, even if it takes a couple more keypresses

Track Destination Controls are there. (At least in 17, which is all I have. Maybe that's important.)
