17 beta7 source window issues

Once I have determined a segment by in/out and drag it to the timeline, if I click it in the timeline, the source window somehow turns kind of into the timeline-clip. I can no longer set in/out, I can no longer drag to the timeline.

You can see this happening here:

All kinds of strange behavior now occur. No dragging, no in/out setting, if I reverse-speed the clip, the source also reverses. Also somehow sometimes the newly made in/out segment automatically copies over to a clip already in the timeline (if selected), destroying a previous edit.

This is very strange and annoying behavior, not how it was or should be. The only way to reset things to work normally is to pull up another clip in the source window, and then reload the clip I'm working on in the source window.

Seems to be a bug?

Resolve Studio 17 beta 7, Win10 Professional, Core i9 9900k, 64GB DDR4, Geforce 2080Ti 11GB.

In your example video, the source viewer switches to a Timeline viewer as noted by the word Timeline at the end of the clip title in the dropdown viewer at the top. I think it happened when you double-clicked a clip on the timeline. You can click that dropdown menu and select the source clip.

Thanks for the response. I'll look into it, I can't remember it doing this before the beta 7 or in 16. I somehow experience more issues overall in this one (beta 7)

That's not quite right. It's still a Source Viewer, but it's no longer looking at the original clip from the bin.

When you double click a clip in a timeline, you load that clip segment into the Source Viewer. This allows you to make changes to that segment in the Source Viewer, and have those changes reflected in the timeline.

I'll make a copy of the project and start finding out if it's me or the beta. Doublecheck everything. Things happen where they didn't before, and I haven't much changed my workflow. Can be I overlooked somethings, so I need to be thourough.

Your video shows that you did in fact double-click the clip, which loads the TIMELINE instance into the source viewer. You just made a simple mistake.

Yes, I see in the video I click twice. But I made the video only after this went wrong multiple times, and I'm pretty sure I'm not double clicking all the time. Also setting the In point goes strange, it set's it to the beginning, not to the playhead. You can see I have to click many times to get the in point at the playhead.

Anyhow, I'll have to dig into this. If things go wrong in the beta, Blackmagic should know, if it's just me screwing up I need to know.

Given I have nightshift this week I'm afraid it'll be the weekend when I have time to really check.
