layer and parallel nodes not working

Hi,

I can't find a solution for this error anywhere. I keep encountering a situation where creating a layer or parallel node will only create the connection box but not the additional node. I have tried restarting Resolve and I have tried deleting all nodes and starting from scratch. Nothing works. HOWEVER, I CAN create layer and parallel nodes on clips that I have not yet worked with.

As these node types are used daily and i dont see other similar posts, i cant repo it either on my mac v17b8
can we start with details, your OS, specific Resolve version, and details about the timeline so someone can see if they see the same.
