Black borders on blurred objects

PostMon Feb 08, 2021 10:16 am

Hi.

I have been trying to create a small video with objects moving on screen in Davinci Resolve. The object can be a jpeg or png that is smaller than the timeline resolution, and overlaid on a separate video layer, and moved by changing the position between two keyframes. The movement looks better if the object is blurred in the direction of the movement, which I've done with OpenFX Directional Blur and Zoom Blur, but this produces a black border around the object. Changing the Border Type has from Black to anything else no affect on this. If I use a png, the black border follows the line of transparency. The same happens if I use s small mp4 clip.

Is there any way to get rid of the black border? Or is there a better way to make a moving object appear blurred as it moves across the screen?

I'm using a PC with win10 and Davinci Resolve 16.2.8.005 (paid version)

I've included a screenshot of the black border. Thank you for your help.

All the best, Mark.

Have you tried doing this in Fusion?

No. I don't know much about fusion and wouldn't know where to begin. I just want to have some objects fall into view from the top of the screen and land at the bottom.

Any demo videos for ding this in Fusion you could point me to?

Thank you for your reply.

Yeah, BMD really did a great job with those training materials. I found them really helpful after switching from Premiere Pro.
