Inherent problem with Neural Engine de-interlacing?

I’ve been archiving/re-mastering some short films from the 90’s. A lot were shot on hi8 and few in mini dv. I’ve rebuilt the timelines from scratch after re importing the original tapes and as the films had a field removed back in the day (to achieve a budget film effect) I am currently testing a few deinterlacer options that will get the best 50i into 25p to retain that look, but hopefully losing as little info as possible.

Having been slightly overwhelmed by the QTGMC option I decided to try compressor, Jes deinterlacer and the new Neural engine on Resolve 17. In short, the results from Resolve on Neural engine setting were quite a step up in quality generally compared to the other 2, but it is plagued slightly by horizontal line artifacts on certain faster motion camera shots/movements. It seems to create hard jagged lines/edges around certain areas when the camera is panning quickly or hand held. Almost looks as though it’s stealing/struggling to differentiate between outgoing and incoming interlaced frame and lines from the next frame appear in the current one. Such a shame, as everything else about it seems a real step up from the other two. Is this just the trade offusing Nueral deinterlacer, or has anyone whose also experienced this found a work around?
