Training

PostMon Feb 08, 2021 11:40 pm

I am working on the "Fairlight Audio Post - With DaVinci Resolve 16" booklet to learn how to use DaVinci Resolve. I can't get the files I need to come "online". I have followed the instructions on page 53 where it says the following:

1 In the Project Manager, right-click and choose Restore Project Archive.
2 Select R16 audio post lessons > R16 audio post pt2 > Hyperlight Audio Post.dra,
and click Open. Then double-click the Hyperlight Audio Post project to open it.

I don't get an "open" option when I double-click the Hyperlight Audio Post. I can select all the files by hitting shift/option to select them and at that point I can open them, (and many files did import into the project) but the 6 files I need did not import. As I search through all the files in the "Hyperlight Audio Post" file to find them, I don't see any of them. The files I need are the following files: (1) 2 Record VO Start (2) 2a Recording VO finish (3) 2b ADR Session Start. (4) c Def Finish Scene (5) d ADR Session Finished. (6) e Sound Design FX Record.

These files don't download when I select all the files in the Hyperlight Audio Post project file. WHERE ARE THEY???

I don't know if it makes a difference, but all of the R16 audio post pt 2 files are on my external hard drive. Although I transferred them to my desktop and still get the same result.

I know how to get the files to come online under most situations. I just store the files I used for my personal projects on my hard drive. This way I don't have to wait for them to download from the cloud and all the needed files are imported into the project, but now that I'm using files that I downloaded for this DaVinci project, I can't seem to find them even after following the instructions above. ALL OF THE CLIPS IN MY LOWER TIMELINE ARE RED.

HELP!!

(also - the font color selection above this box doesn't seem to work)

I WOULD MUCH PREFER TO HAVE A MANUAL THAT SHOWS YOU HOW TO USE DAVINCI WITHOUT THE PROJECTS ALREADY PREPARED IN ADVANCE BY DAVINCI. I SPEND ALL MY TIME FIGURING OUT HOW TO OPERATE THE PROJECT RATHER THAN LEARNING HOW TO USE DAVINCI. I CAN SET UP MY OWN PROJECT BASED ON MY OWN NEEDS. IS THERE A MANUAL THAT DOES THAT??

I followed the directions on p.53 without difficulty.

I don't get an "open" option when I double-click the Hyperlight Audio Post.

What does that mean, exactly?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I mean the following:

The instructions say the following: "Then double-click the Hyperlight Audio Post project to open it."

I can't open it because "open" is greyed out.

Thank-you for showing me where the manual can be found. I have found a lot of manuals, but never stumbled onto that one.

Double-clicking on a .drp file works under MacOS only, AFAIK.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Odd. What happens if you double-click it?
