Dragging Video on Timeline to Flush left

PostMon Feb 08, 2021 8:28 pm

Hi DaVinci listmates,

I have watched the DR videos on the official DR home site.

I have read the official manual.

I have also tried watching YT tutorials.

In the Edit Page, I’m trying to drag the video on the Timeline track all the way over to the left so it starts at 00:00:00

When I hold down the left mouse button and try to drag that video like in other Windows program the video won’t move at all.

How best in the Edit Page can I move a video on the Timeline so it starts at 00:00:00?

Thank you.

move to the DaVinci Forum.. ideal place for DaVinci questions.

You need to change the start time of the timeline. Have a look in the manual, edit page section, for changing the timeline start time. You do this by right clicking on the timeline in the media pool, and following the links.

It looks like your video and audio are linked. Unlink them and then drag the video to the left. Or cut the audio at the same point the video starts.

As a new user, your first course of action should be to complete some Resolve training. The Beginner's Guide and Advanced Editing are an excellent groundwork to get you moving smoothly. ;)

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

What's the best way, in your experience, to unlink video from audio?

Thank you!

Right click the clip, it's at the bottom of the popup menu.

You could also try Alt-clicking on the video to select it on its own.

Hi Peter,

The only DaVinci forums I found here were..

DaVinci Resolve Feature Requests and
DaVinci Resolve 17 Beta

Which of those would you suggest I post beginner questions on?

Thank you!
