Database backup/restore for V17...

I have been fumbling the database.
I wanted to follow the recommendation to back up and restore.
I only had 1 (disk database) in the project manager and I used "Disconnect", expecting to reconnect to the backed up one. but it kept giving me permissions errors, regardless of where I put it and I couldnt reconnect to the original - still in the same users/me/appdata....

I did eventually reconnect to the backup...
is there some element i am missing?

I realise that I wasn't very clear.

I meant that I had connected to the backup but still wasn't able to reconnect to the database that I had disconnected from. Is there a trick? To disconnect from the only active disk database?
