Win10pro V17b8studio Fairlight forgets track-FX

Hi there,

I am running into this problem:

I put Audio-FX on one channel (Voice-Channel and Multiband-Compressor) and I use the standard-Track-Compressor. When I save and re-open the project, the Track-FX are gone except the standard-Track-Compressor. This is reproducable.

Any suggestions?

It´s me again.

I also figured out that the Master-Fader is gone (see picture attached).

Yesterday I changed something in the Project Prferences - Fairlight - Audio Metering - Target Loudness Level from -23 to -14. Then Resolve crashes. After that, the Master Fader was gone and I had problems to re-assign my tracks to an output bus. I think since then the saving of Track-Effects is not possible anymore.

Any clues?

regards
tom

In version 17 with Flexi Bus Projects, by default Busses are named Bus 1, Bus 2, etc.

Fixed Bus Projects behave like version 16 and will feature Main Busses (Main 1, Main 2, etc), Sub Busses, and Auxes.

Prior to creating a new Timeline in a new Project, the following preference may be enabled: Project Preferences > Fairlight > Audio Busing Mode

Based on the screenshot, the Project is in Flexi Bus mode and three Busses (a single Stereo “Bus 1”, and two mono Busses namely “Mod On” and “Mod Off”) are configured in the Bus format window, and all three Busses are reflected correctly in the Mixer.

Currently, all Audio Tracks are routed to “Bus 1”. Click the “+” button below the “Bus 1” button on the Audio Channel in the Mixer. Does the drop-down expose “Bus 1”, “Mod On”, and “Mod Off” options as destinations for the Bus Out?

@Reynaud - Thank you for your reply!

First, I was not aware of this FlexiBus-Option. I set up a new prject and switched to FixedBusMapping. With this setting I could reveal the MasterFader.

Then I threw some stuff in a new Timeline and added AudioFX on the Faitrlight-Page. After closing and re-opening Resolve, the FX are still there!

Back to my Project with the missing AudioFX-Problem: AudioBusingMode is set to FlexiBus (FixedBusMapping-CheckBox grayed out). That is what I expected after your Post. Then I added the AuudioFX again. After closing and re-opening Resolve, the FX are gone! So I assume it has something to do with some Setting / PreSet-data under the hood...

The Mapping is clear to me. No problems with that except that the MappingProcess itself is cumbersome and in my current project it is guesswork to hit the right channels for mapping to the subgroups. Example: I have two Mono-Channels and four Stereo-Channels. I set up three Subgroups. One Mono-Subgroup and two stereo-SubGroups. When I try to map AuudioMono 1 to SubMono1 it maps to Stereo 1! I have to click on SuubStereo 2 to map AudioMono 1 to SubMono 1! Crazy...

still investigating,

Not able to reproduce this behaviour on macOS with third party plugins or Fairlight AFX.

Are you experiencing this behaviour with beta 9?

System spec? viewtopic.php?f=21&t=90190

Post a link to the Project file without media. May be helpful to confirm the routing.

@Reynaud

Again, thank you!

I also have another station with Resolve, also on Win10pro. No problems on that station.

I think the problem occured when switching to -14 dBFS on the project-settings Fairlight-page. after switching Resolve crashed.

That was on ResolveStudio V17Beta7. then I noticed the missing AudioFX. So I updated to V17Beta8, but it made no difference. I will try the Beta9 now

So I updated to V17b9 but no difference. Still no saving of effect-chains in the Audio-Tracks in Fairlight.

I think I have to completely delete Resolve and re-Install ist. Don´t like this idea...

OK - I deinstalled and re-installed Resolve V17b9studio.

Same thing - no saving of AudioFX.

BUT... the Master-Fader is back in this project! How can that happen?

In the Fixed Bus Project, select the S1 Sub Buss and open the Inspector.

Are the instantiated plugins reflected in the Effects tab?

As mentioned in the previous post, the Fixed and Flexi Bus modes represent Busses differently.

First, I de-Installed Resolve again. Then I copied the
Code: Select all
C:\Users\StudioMZW\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design
to another location. Then I Installed Resolve again. I connect to the old database and could open my project. Clearly,, all my Prefs were gone.

second, responding to your post:
When I now add an effect to any channel in the FixedBusProject, I have all controls in the Inspector -> EffectsTab. When I save and re-open, all effects are gone.

I set up a new project with FlexiBus. Then I copied the Timelines from the FixedBusProject. I opened one of them and added an effect. Save, close and re-open - Effects are gone.

So I created a new timeline in this new Project. I copied the content of the "old" timeline to the "new" one. clearly, all subgroup-routing and automation was gone. So I set this up new (except for automation...) and added the same effects as on the "old" timeline. Save, close and re-open - Effects are there!

I guess, the evil lies in a corrupted timeline- or project-data. I will work up my timelines now and reconstruct the mixes. with research, testing and reconstructing I have lost two days then. not too bad for a project without deadline...

Now I figured out something strange:

My Project-Setting is FlexiBus, as the option "use FixedBus" is greiyed out and not activated.

I set up a new Timeline and I got a FixedBus-Audio layout (With Master- or Main-Fader). Then I go to Loudness -> set to EBU R128, then go to Project-Settings and select and directly De-Select something like "Auro 3D" so I get the option to "SAVE" the settings.

Then the magic happens: After the preference saving process the audio-timeline-layout switches to "FlexiBus".

When I set up a new timeline in the running session, it will be set to "FlexiBus".

Strange...
