Resolve Live stutters at 25fps

PostThu Feb 11, 2021 1:08 pm

We are shooting a television production in 25p on Alexa.

I want to use Resolve Live to do a live preview of the look to the directors monitor. The image seems to stutter a bit when running in 25fps, like every 2 seconds or so. Just enough to be annoying. And this is just a straight pass-through without any grades on. Everything seems to be smooth when running 24fps.

When going through capture mode everything is smooth as butter.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Project running:
1080 25p

System running:
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X 24-Core 3.80GHz
64Gb DDR4 Ram
Windows 10 Enterprise
Decklink 4K SDI
Nvidia GTX1080Ti
Davinci Studio 16.2.8 (I also tried v17 Beta8)
Desktop Video 12

You also need to set project/timeline playback frame rate to 25 fps if it's not already, AND monitor settings for Decklink to a 25 fps mode as well...
Asus Prime X370-Pro+R7 3700X@PBO+32 GB G.Skill AEGIS DDR-4@3200MHz
Sapphire RX6700 10GB
Adata A400 120GB System,A2000 500GB Scratch SSDs
Media storage:"Always in motion is it"
BMD Mini Monitor 4K

Thanks for the reply.

All settings are set to 25p. Timeline, monitor, and output.

All settings in desktop video settings are set to 25p. All conversions are disabled.

From you description sounds like some setting is left at 24p, so every second you have dropped frame (or there is a bug).
Go though all settings again.

I completely agree! It seems like a frame every second. But I've been going through the settings many many times.

Thing is, on the Davinci monitor it looks fine, so the problem only occurs on the output SDI signal.

And now for the really funny thing. I've made test projects in 23,98fps, 24fps, 29,98fps and they all work perfectly. :?

Perhaps someone out there can try to recreate a 25fps Resolve Live session and see what result they get? Preferably someone from Blackmagic!
