DR 17 Beta 8 - Stabilizing Compound Clip Takes 10x Longer

Is it normal for a compound clip to take over 5x longer for stabilization to complete than a normal video clip? My compound clip only has two clips in it. If I stabilize them individually it takes less than 1min total. If I join them into a compound clip I estimate it takes between 5-10min. I never tested this in DR16 so I don't know if it has always been this way.

I would advise running Stabilization only on original clips.

That's not always an option. The drones that I use for aerial video work cut the clips to a new file every 4GB, for one particular scene I need the full recording but it spans both clips. I would either have to first render the joined clips out to a single clip then reimport it and then stabilize it, or I could just create a compound clip and stabilize the compound clip itself.

I chose the compound clip route....it works its just very slow. Fortunately I very rarely need to film a continuous scene like this so I usually only have to work with individual clips. I just found it odd how much slower the process is.

Yeah, do that. (Might even be faster overall. ;) )

Use Cineform as the intermediate.

I know the workarounds but the point of this support forum is to report issues...if we never report anything they will never fix anything; who knows, maybe the dev team has no idea its slower for compound clips and it is something they can easily fix.
