Macbook air- slow playback

PostFri Feb 12, 2021 5:11 pm

I'm new to resolve and am experiencing serious lag time just trying to watch my video back. It's a short video and I just imported it- didn't edit it at all yet and it's lagging so bad I can't even see what i am doing.
I'm using a Macbook Air 2018 running on MAC OS Mojave Version 10.14.6
1.6 GHz Intel Core i5
8gb
my memory and CPU numbers look fine, I closed out of EVERY other program on my laptop.
Is my computer just not going to meet the minimum requirements?
Thanks!

While the new M1 MB Air is a killer machine, your Intel MB Air will not work to your satisfaction without an eGPU.
You may be able to do some limited work in a 1280 x 720 timeline.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Studio 19.1.3
MacOS 13.7.4, 2017 iMac, 32 GB, Radeon Pro 580 + eGPU
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM, MacOS 14.7.2
SE, USM G3
