How to add only the differences of an overlay? Which mode?

PostFri Feb 12, 2021 8:38 pm

Hello, at all and I hope you had a wonderful day :)

Do you perhaps know how I can add only the differences of an overlay?

Short-Explanation:

Just imagine when someone adds a text to your video clip and I just want to add the text, the effects etc to the original video. I have two tracks. The lower one with the highest bitrate without the effects and a track above it with all the png overlays.

Long-Explanation:

I got the honour to create a music video and we sent the video file to a designer to make a finishing touch. He added amazing effects and text fonts etc. but just gave me for each individual frame a PNG.

When I import the pngs, Resolve immediately creates clips from these. That's super cool. I just need to drop it to the video track 2.

But now comes my question. Which composite mode would you use, so that Resolve checks only the differences and puts this into track 1.

Sorry English is not my first language, so I hope this is somehow understandable :)

And to make it even more understandable, here is a picture:

You see that I just need the difference. That is this frame the text "Hallo Hallo".

Thank you!

Sounds like your designer should have given you PNG's with Alpha. Any chance you could have them exchanged?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
