Audio Dropouts

On DR 17.1 Build 15:

I've been having audio dropouts whenever I have more than one audio clip on top of each other in the tracks. No issues with video playback. Whenever the dropouts occur, the mixer meters die down as well, as if there isn't anything playing.

I am experiencing this on three different computers: Two 2020 Macbook Pros, and one M1 Mac Mini. It also does not discriminate between audio output types: internal speakers, external speakers, external monitor speakers, or headphones. I've also experimented with both projects on my Postgres server, and locally stored projects, and it happens on everything.

Sometimes during playback it will play normally sometimes different tracks will stutter, or come out of just one channel (left or right) and then the other. But it seems to be getting worse / more frequent daily. I've tried clearing the render cache (on all machines) and tried reinstalling DR multiple times (on all machines). I've also noticed it's particularly prevalent when I use the AUReverb effect, if not set to very specific parameters. It almost sounds like it blows the speakers, and then goes quiet.

Is anyone else having this issue, and if so, how are you resolving? (Pun intended.)

Just to confirm that you are describing audio playback with layered audio editing enabled. Are you experiencing this behaviour on the Edit or Fairlight page?

I've also noticed it's particularly prevalent when I use the AUReverb effect
Is this behaviour only with the Apple default Audio Unit plugins, or also with other third party or Fairlight AFX?
