Creating a shareable database

In light of the most recent update to DR 17.

Question: are shareable databases only meant to be used on local networks. Like in one building?

Or are they designed to share with say an editor or colourist elsewhere?

We can't seem to find a straight forward how-to set these up.

Anyone know of a great tutorial or have any suggestions?

Hahaha why is this so difficult :)

I've not had need to set up a collaborative workflow myself Travis, so I can't speak from experience... but essentially what you want to do is set up and share a project server that's hosting a PostgreSQL database. Both yourself and any remote collaborators connect to this server database to work from / share the hosted projects.

If you download the Resolve 16 manual, the relevant section is "Part 15 - Project Databases, Collaborative, and Remote Workflows" which starts on pg 3555.

Probably worth noting is that, as of latest iteration of Resolve 17, Davinci Resolve Project Server (which is what you need) is no longer a part of the Resolve Studio installer, it's a completely separate download thats available from the support page.

I haven't watched, but found this YouTube video which looks like it may offer some guidance on setting up and hosting an AWS based project server :
