Is there any way to buy Resolve Studio right now?

PostSat Feb 13, 2021 11:49 am

I’m having trouble buying an activation code while the speed editor bundle offer is on. Wanted to switch from a competitor product for a customer project and have been enjoying using the free version but need the 4K support. Unfortunately, every order I’ve placed in the UK that’s been in stock for the code has come back a few days later with a message saying they can’t give me the code until the speed editor stock comes in which will take about a month.

Anywhere you know of willing to ship these separately? I’ve been told this is a Blackmagic decision so perhaps someone from the company could also clarify.

Empathise. Ordered from UK reseller beginning of January, est dispatch 20th Jan, then changed to 26th Feb. Little concerned because another buyer on same site said he ordered in November 2020 and has had his dispatch delayed twice already!

Contacted Blackmagic querying delay (and this whole methodology of dispatching physical activation codes) and they tell me due to "unanticipated demand across DaVinci products" which I guess is good to hear in one way. Though makes me feel I'm on a waiting list.

All very bizarre, feel like I'm applying to join a special club rather than buying software.

On the German forum there is an offer:
"wer noch ein DVR Studiolizenz sucht kann sich unter info@ronerpictures.de bei mir melden."

I hope it can still get through customs, now that you are outside of EU, without too much delay.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

The good news is that I've managed to sort this through Scan in the UK. It took one of the managers to make a change after their customer services told me they couldn't do anything but they have plenty stock of activation keys and the Speed Editors arrive by the end of the month.

Got the key sent out straight away and they've created a separate internal order for a zero value speed editor. I'm guessing that they've ordered the offer from Blackmagic to replace stock but they're shipping me the two non-offer items instead.

Technically you don't need the paid version to do 4k, though it's hard to say what feature is needed from the original post.

BHPhotoVideo and Adorama told me the same thing...you have to wait for the code.

AVShop.ca will ship to USA but said this:

Yes - this would have to pass through customs and there may be import fees

If you have any questions, please feel free to call us toll free at 1.866.578.0255.

Thanks,

Does Scan ship to USA and are there duties to pay?

Just to clarify: the free version is limited to UHD. If you need true 4K, its Studio.

I solved the DRS 17 availability issue, by purchasing DRS 15 and using the product ID to download DRS17.

I did have to wait two days for the activation/product ID key to arrive. (this was early January 2021)
