Possible to disable splash screen (for religious reasons)?

    Hi everyone.

As the title asks, is it possible to disable or somehow select which intro splash screen appears when you launch DaVinci Resolve? If not, how should one go about requesting such a feature?

This might be a weird request to make but it is for religious reasons. I'm a Muslim, from Pakistan, and want to introduce some friends (who are less well-versed in technology than me) to DR. As they are Muslims too and it is not permitted for Muslims to see women without a veil, some of the splash screens are problematic for us.
I know it's possible to open up another app or open File Explorer to block out the splash screen while DR is loading, but I was hoping that there would be some setting that I could disable while I was setting up resolve for my peers so that don't have to bother with that type of thing every time they open DR, or perhaps we could choose which images can appear while DR atarts-up?
I have skimmed through the Reference guide but was unable to find anything related to disabling splash screens.

I'm new to the forum, so please do point out any mistakes I made.
    Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of any user settings for this.

Assalamualaikum, and welcome to the forum, Usman.

I tried to find the splash screen for you in the resources under MacOS, where they are normally easy to find and to replace, but I couldn't detect it. I'd suggest you contact Blackmagic about it, it should be fairly easy, since they tend to change that screen from time to time anyway. They might be willing to help and make their software more popular among Muslim users.

That said, I'm living in the country with the largest Muslim population in the world and also teaching Resolve here, but nobody seems to have a problem with those pictures.

Waalaikum Assalam. Thanks for the warm welcome and prompt replies!

Definitely, it isn't that big of a deal for most users (I myself have been using DR off and on for about 2 years now), but I'm going to introduce DR to some Scholars(Ulema) that I know. They are rather devout and saintly, so I wanted to preemptively solve this problem for them. They are making online videos explaining religious concepts (not sure if I'm allowed to share their YouTube channel link here, so I won't). The software they were using is SEVERELY outdated and difficult to use. So, I wanted to introduce them to DR and maybe show them the ropes to get them started.

In terms of contacting Blackmagic, would sending them an email suffice, or should I use some other channel to communicate better?

Thanks once again.

If you are using the Studio version, you might try to email support, but they don't react to all mails from users of the free version.

You could also try posting in the features request, they'll be monitoring that:
viewforum.php?f=33

Until then, keep it covered until the program has started. From my experience with users over here who were stuck with very outdated software, it's absolutely worth teaching it, as long as the hardware is good enough.

Could you simply turn off the monitor for a minute while the software was loading?

Well, as we all know, sometimes DR is getting stuck right there ;-)

Definitely. Also, as was suggested earlier, the way I've been using it till now was by blocking the splash screen with a "File Explorer" window (I'm Windows).

I was kinda hoping there would be a way to bypass having to do something like that every time I (or someone else) opened up Resolve, like a setting that could be disabled or maybe we could pick which splash screens were allowed to appear, although I understand that such choices would hinder the whole purpose of the splash screens (to advertise Blackmagic's products). I also know that this is a bit of a niche issue that isn't really a problem for most users. Just hoping for an amicable result.

I'll be submitting this is a feature request soon, as was suggested earlier. Thank you all for the response!

So I finally got around to submitting a feature request (probably shouldn't have waited this long...)

The thread is
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=135682

And now we wait.
(Or are there any more steps to take?)

Not really. But it might be difficult to do, since it seems that they use some automatism feeding pictures from the marketing department. These are obviously quite balanced regarding skin color, but they don't really care to hide women's hair.

Or they could simply look away for some ten seconds.

I'm really sorry because I know I will be perceived as a racist, which I assure you I'm not, or at least none of my Muslim friends ever referred to me as one.

As you said, they are using an old software, while DaVinci Resolve is a modern and international one. If you want to use something modern and international, you must open yourself to it.

As a modern atheist I would feel offended on ethical basis if women were to be excluded from the splash screens.

More: the software bears the name of a famous homosexual person (Leonardo Da Vinci, painter). Isn't this a problem too?

Again, I don't want to judge anybody's customs or beliefs, which I respect.
