How to blend two clips with same background?

Hey guys, total newbie here.
I'm experiencing some difficulties with how to blend two clips with the same background into one - for example, filming myself with a steady camera on two positions in front of the same wall. I want to merge them so I will look like I have a clone of myself (hope this explains it better :) )
I tried with Fusion of both clips and changing the blend mode to multiply, but I always end up with a dark video, and when I try to brighten it, the subject starts to become transparent.

Any help would be appreciated!

As a new user, your first course of action should be to complete some Resolve training. The Beginner's Guide and Advanced Editing are an excellent groundwork to get you moving smoothly. ;)

Jim is of course correct here, although it sounds like you have one film with you on the left hnd side, one on the right had side. Stack the 2 clips on top of each other, then go play with the Crop tools in the Inspector on the topmost clip.

Dozens of examples of this kind of thing on YouTube

Hi Tine,

there are several ways to do it, but since you are working with a static shot here is what you can do:

You import both clips in the timeline and place them on top of each other. You take the top clip and go in the "inspector" where you can crop it. If you are on the right side, crop the left side. This way it will play both clips at the same time while you seem to have cloned yourself.

It gets a bit more complicated in the fusion page, but for starters this should do.

Hope it helps,

Dawid

If a simple crop is not suitable, you can create a Power Window on the Color Page that isolates the area you need on the topmost clip. This will allow tracking and adjustment of the Power Window if the two images of you are close or slightly overlapping.
