Upgrade from R15 Studio to R16 makes huge graphics failure

PostMon Feb 15, 2021 4:45 am

Hi. My wife wanted to upgrade her copy of R15 studio. Going from the last version of R15 to the current one (DaVinci_Resolve_Studio_16.2.8_Mac) causes the menus to go crazy. If I go back to R15 (now all projects inaccessible due to DB difference) it works just fine.

The about this mac is attached to this message. A video showing what happens inside of R16 when we try to access any of the menus is here:

We double checked that the computer meets the minimus and indeed it does as you can see from the attached About This Mac image.

Please advise.

Thanks so much!

Looks like GPU overload. The newer Systems get more demanding, and then, Apple doesn't support Nvidia nicely any more.
Try a timeline with only 1280 by 720. If that doesn't help, it's a new computer or going back to 15.

I hope you got a backup of your database as advised in the Read Me …
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

She did not have any projects she really cared about so no biggie on the DB. So back to 15 she goes I guess. Sucks since technically that machine meets the minimum spec.
