Formating ruined by changed in proxy mode

Working on both a square 1:1 timeline and a vertical 9:16 timeline, I've done my edits with playback>proxy mode>off. I've then switched to proxy mode>half for review, at which point all of my text formatting across the timeline is messed up both in terms of scale and position, requiring a time-consuming re-edit. Switching off the proxy mode does not restore the formatting.

Is this a bug or normal expected behaviour? I'm on Resolve 16.2.8.005.
