BUG: Da Vinci Resolve Studio 17.1B Build 10 replaces audio?

PostTue Feb 16, 2021 8:13 am

After editing an interview session yesterday, I exported, saved and closed the program. Today I opened the session and timeline again, and all files are showing up red as Media Offline. Strange, as I haven't moved any files. Not only that, but the imported files are no longer in the media pool at all. I reimport the files, and this works.... However, Da Vinci has replaced the audio files with other audio files. At no time did I do anything that would trigger this. As in what was now an edited WAV audio supplied by sound engineer, in sync with the video and edited a long with video, has been replaced by my camera audio files (renaming the files to the camera files) while maintaining the cuts.

This is strange behaviour. An obvious bug. That I'm unable to fix. If I replace the clip, the video is then removed. I have backups of the timeline but unfortunately this has affected all of them.

Anyone have any ideas what I did that triggered this? Any similar experiences?

FYI Every file has a unique file name not used in any other session. I use a date, camera, angle, mic system - its impossible that mislabled files affected the re-import. The two WAV audio files for the talent are now the BRAW camera audio files

If all the files are offline after a restart of a windows PC i first check if windows labeled the drive a different letter.
as for why the clips are not in the media pool, thats not clear. I cant see how they would disappear.

if you still have yesterday's project file, exit from where you are and reimport that.
See if the drive number has changed and the missing clips have a media pool or finder file path to chase.

This is Mac OSX 10.15.7 and nothing has changed since yesterday. The entire bin that the session was in had disappeared, but the timeline and my timeline backups remained. When looking at the timeline, all files were offline - even graphics and things kept in other bins. When I import the clips into a bin - they reconcile but the audio has changed completely. It's kept all the edits, but is now using the video files for the audio instead of the audio files. If I replace one of these the other is then removed.

Not only that, some PNG graphics have been removed completely. Others have changed to different files with different names. Some overlay video files are removed - as in not there at all. Anything at HFR is gone.

Its strange because you could assume that maybe the save didn't work, except that entire edit is there, just missing files, and some other files replaced with different things.

FYI This Project has about 30 other timelines in it for the same client.
