Weird closed captioning bug

PostTue Feb 16, 2021 7:06 pm

Hi, I'm having a frustrating time dealing with exporting out a closed captioning file, and was wondering if anyone's had the same trouble (or if there's something obvious I'm missing).

I built closed captions in Resolve using the ST1 track. Everything is timed out well, according to the master timeline. I exported to a separate SRT file.

To double-check the closed captioning, I've played them back (with the video master) in multiple apps, both locally and remotely: VLC, Elmedia Player, and Vimeo. All of them have the same problem: the closed captioning starts to drift and after 5-10 minutes the timing is completely off.

My project is 23.98, my master video is 23.98. Playback on the other video apps shows 23.98. My timeline starts at 0:00:00:00 to make sure the captions work.

I'm using Resolve Studio 16.2.8.005 on an iMac Pro running 10.14.6, 64GB RAM, graphics card is Radeon Pro Vega 64 16 GB.

The only "solution" I've come up with is to manually edit the SRT file using a reference video with burned-in TC, but that's a miserable, grueling few hours ahead of me, lol.

What am I missing? Any other, better choices or solutions? Thanks in advance.
