Resolve renders handles when zero handles are set

PostWed Feb 17, 2021 9:18 am

Just found a marvelous new bug in resolve. Turns out when you have a group of random shots selected under some sort of grouping (flags, modified by time, marks, etc) and render them out as an individual clips with zero handles selected....

Resolve will infact add handles even though 0 is a selected. Wouldn’t be an issue if it didn’t grab the color from the shot you selected to render and add it to the front and back handles, thus creating tons of incorrect color pops.

There is a work around but unfortunately it involves rendering each clip individually one by one as a single clip. which you can imagine adds tons of time to the overall workflow.

Can we get this fixed ASAP? I’m on build 33

if you deselect the clip filter, so all is shown, set the handles to 0, toggle if its already 0, save, then select the filter again, do you still have the issue?

Yes still no good. At this point I don’t know if this is a beta version issue or just a beta issue in genera. I tried this render on the same project on 3 different machines last night. One on beta build 33, 27, and 7. All same issue.

I can confirm that the “zero handles” on the render page was working as early as last week. To make matters even more confusing it looks as though this issue is project specific. I was able to successfully render out clips with no handles with the Same preset, same filters, on different projects.

Right now my work around is rendering out each drop in/fix/color tweak as single clips rather than individual. one by one. It’s the only way to ensure there are no handles with incorrect color are accidentally rendered out.

Also tried to import the proj into a different database and had the same issue.

Hi Ara

What codecs and settings do you use for the render job?

A drp (or two) showing two jobs - the first one showing the job that rendered handles, the second one showing the last successful zero handle render, would help us take a look.

Thanks
