Hello,
I have intermittently run across a bizarre problem with cropping videos in Resolve for which I am not sure whether it is a bug or some limitation of my own understanding.
Normally, when one visually crops in the Edit Mode, moving, say, the left 'handle' moves the edge of the left side of the video in, and similarly for the other handles, and that's it. Makes for precise cropping.
Question (1)
But I have run across multiple clips for which grabbing the left handle (to use the same example), crops simultaneously from the left *and* the right. The right white crop border does not move, but the clip is blacked out on the right to the same degree I cropped from the left. (Again, same for top, corner handles, etc). What is going on with this, and how do I stop this from happening, please?
Question (2)
Perhaps related, when one finishes cropping as in Q1, above, the rectangle of the clip and the white crop/transform rectangle are not on top of each other, but offset. Why?
Question (3)
In DR17 (but not 16 that I recall), I am seeing a weirdness where for a given clip I can get it to look the way I desire in Crop, but as soon as I click the Transform option of the Transform/Crop/Dynamic Zoom etc menu, the full-frame part that I just cropped away *reappears* (with the small white crop handles showing the desired area)
Question (4)
In DR17, can someone please explain in detail the "Retain Image Position"? I did not find a description of it in the manual nor anything beyond a mention of it in the "what's new" document. It seems to behave differently in different circumstances (say, crop vs transform) for the same clip, but again, this could be a limit of my understanding.
Thanks,
