Magic Mask slow performance 17.1 B9

PostThu Feb 18, 2021 4:15 am

I am using a new MacPro m1 with 16gb, and DR 17.1 B9.
When I perform a Magic Mask, the track is really slow, around 2fps. After the mask is created, if I apply any small correction, the playback is also 2-3fps.
Doesn't matter if is 4k or HD video.
Anyone is having the same issue? Mac or Windows?
Thank you

The Magic Mask is very demanding and, while the mini M1 is a great little machine, it doesn't have a really strong GPU.
Someone noted that shorter strokes for the mask make it somewhat faster.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Same here. Even though I'm trying to use a short strokes, the mask is not accurate and rendering is very slow. I'm using DR Studio 17, and MacBook Air M1 chip with 8 gb. Anyone one knows what settings shall I use to improve the process? Optimizing Media doesn't do much at all. Thank you.

Use a stronger computer. Seriously, it's not made for that.
Anyway, Magic Mask is not a miraculous tool for compositing, it will just help in masking people for grading, even with a stronger GPU.
