Remote rendering (headless) support, questions

I'm a new Davinci user (free currently). I found a post mentioning that a remote render server can be set up, and it can be run with GUI or headless.
I've then seen multiple posts talking about how headless gives no output, no indication of render performance or status.

While it's one thing for the headless command to give no feedback, when running headless, is there any sort of "stat" program to determine the state of renders?
Or, is there a log, or even database queries that could be run to determine the current status?

Also, for remote render support, do I have to have Studio edition, or will the free edition function with remote render?

And on a related note, I know GPU rendering is a feature that Davinci touts (apparently limited to Studio edition, but I thought I saw something contrary to that...). Having dealt with web streaming a bit, my experience has been GPU renders are either lower quality (but fast), or at high quality they're then slower than something like a threadripper.
Is there any sort of performance comparison available for retail GPUs (i.e. - GTX 970, 1080, RTX 2080 ti, etc) vs retail CPUs?

Has anyone noticed if the quality differs at all?
