Avid Artist Color with Mac and Resolve 16

PostFri Feb 19, 2021 10:33 pm

is anyone successfully using the Avid Artist Color panel for color correction with resolve 16 on a mac. I tried it and managed to find software to make it work but it was troublesome to get going and a none of the functions beyond the color wheels and just one out of the 2 pages of of the controls beneath the wheels would even map to the controls for me.. I read that you could map lots of other functions to it but couldn't figure out how. One person seemed to tell me I could program those functions but again I had no idea how.

Any tips? I'm ready to sell it and get a micro panel.

i'm useing two of them, one in my studio, and one at home, they do work well in v17, even have the new zones tools mapped, and worked well in v16

the mapping is super simple to do... here's a tut from more than 10 years ago:

cue up to 2min mark where the explanation starts

the last default mapping was in the v10 manual, Marc uploaded it years ago, and the link is still active:

interesting to read my thoughts from five years ago
<sigh>

still my prefrence, (and i have seat time on Mini, Advanced, and Elements) as it's the only one i can map under Resolve, and yea it's amazing well thought through running Baselight

Thanks Dermot. I guess i'll try again after I finish a project I'm working on now in a couple of weeks . Last time I tried, after a long time I finally figured out how to get the console working with resolve. However as I recall, then I found a default setup for Resolve but it was extremely limited and I could never figure out how to get the mapping to work to make it more useful.

I'll look over that tutorial and see if it helps. Sure would be nice to see something a little more detailed.

I was using the free Resolve at the time. I have studio now. Would that make a difference?
