New Complete Audio Dropout Problem Beta9

PostSat Feb 20, 2021 11:54 am

6 or 7 times now while working on a couple of videos in a new project I am experiencing a new audio problem in Resolve.

As your editing and for no obvious or apparent reason, all audio playback goes to zero as if muted.

Doesn't matter how many tracks of audio, stereo or mono. Doesn't matter if you are in Fairlight, Edit page or Cut page. Audio playback goes to zero.

If you dynamically switch to another existing project, it too has zero audio for playback.

Here's the kicker. Even if you try to render your timeline while experiencing the audio dropout problem you will get zero audio on the final render audio as well.

If you close DR and reopen it, then audio playback functions as expected. That is until the next time the audio just randomly drops out.

Are you using Pitch control? This is an audio-killer. See my post: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=134775

Same here. No pitch changes.

Hi Erik,
I found the reason in my case. My audio guy used to have a MIDI controller connected to control Fairlight.

While it was not connected when I was observing the problem, it seems that MacOS send erroneous signals to the faders. So, sometimes my sliders got set to zero after starting a project and even after switching timelines and the sound was off.
After deactivating the entry for "Use MIDI audio console" in the preferences (under Control Panels) and restarted DR, the problem is fixed for me.

Could this apply to your case too?

Hello Uli,

Thanks for troubleshooting. I don't have any peripheral audio gear connected to my computer. I just have a pair of speakers connected from the audio output on the back of the computer. No mixing boards, midis or such.
