Updated Picker RGB Values

PostSat Feb 20, 2021 5:03 pm

OK - apologies in advance if this is a Really Stupid Question: Show Picker RGB Value is set, I am making changes, say, to white balance with the wheels, but I have to actually move the cursor to get the adjusted values to be reflected. Can this possibly be right? Is there a setting, or, I dunno, a plug-in, that would allow me to keep my hands on the damn wheels as I watch the RGB values respond to my adjustments?

Sheepishly, thanks...

That said, usually you're looking at the scopes for this, not the RGB Picker.

Thanks for the reply, Jim. I'm not clear what the link to the Panels brochure supplies, but I do have a Mini on order, for what it's worth. While the scopes are usually precise enough, there are times when I want an exact match <121/121/121> that make the picker RGB values quite a bit faster than leaning in to see the positions of traces.

With a panel, you can leave the mouse over the image. You don't have to move it down to the wheels to make adjustments.

Sorry, I've expressed myself badly... I've been using a panel for five or six years to make adjustments. (Just got rid of the Tangent Element to try the Mini.) That's not the issue. The issue is that, when I am monitoring the picker RGB values, whether using printer points, the wheels, or any other adjustment mechanism, the RGB values do not update without actually moving the curser over the image. In other words, I can apply a massive change on the wheels, and until I move the cursor the change is not reflected in the picker values. 121/121/121 remains 121/121/121 even if I've added a significant amount of, say, magenta to the image.

Adam at Blackmagic has suggested that this is an actual problem with my system, but because I'm on 17 beta they won't support the case unless I resort back to 16.2.8. I have live jobs on 17, so I assume I will have to wait until 17 is out of beta. His response makes me wonder if I'm alone in this, and that you guys all have continuously updating picker values when you make changes.

Ahhhhhh.

I don't have a panel for testing. I have to move the mouse.
