When rendering, says "Media Offline" - but Media is online

PostSun Feb 21, 2021 9:52 am

Using 17.1 beta 9 for Mac M1, I noticed a problem when I started to render a project, i.e. when I pressed RENDER ALL, nothing happened.

I switched back to beta 8, but that didn't work either, so I went back to beta 9.

I noticed that in the Fusion page, as the Fusion clips are auto-rendered, the part that had already been auto-rendered said that "Media Offline".

Usually, when the "Media Offline" error occurs, over in the Media Pool it tells you which items are offline, indicating in red. But this time, none of the items in the Media Pool were red. So it is mystifying why there is an "Media Offline" error.

Log attached.

I wouldn't fully rely on the current M1 models for Fusion work and rather expect problems.
What you could try is "Render in Place" for the offending clip and see if that helps with final rendering.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Studio 19.1.3
MacOS 13.7.4, 2017 iMac, 32 GB, Radeon Pro 580 + eGPU
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM, MacOS 14.7.2

I just tried Rendering in Place, but that didn't seem to solve anything.

The M1 is my most powerful computer that I own, having upgraded from an older 2015 Mac. My videos have a lot of 2D Fusion effects. Many could not be achieved on the 2015 Mac.

And what happens if you use the standalone version for those effects?
In my experience, Fusion is still quite buggy on the Mac in 17, not only M1, but Intel too.

I'm fairly new to Fusion and Davinci, and don't know how to use standalone (free) Fusion in conjunction with (free) Davinci Resolve.

In the videos I'm working on, I use Fusion effects that require keyframes that are in sync with what is happening in the video. Hence, I am guessing that such would be far easier to achieve with Fusion being inside Davinci, rather than as a standalone app (having never used much of Fusion standalone).
