Resolve Won't Open - Splash Doesn't Appear

PostSun Feb 21, 2021 8:55 pm

I was using resolve yesterday. No changes to my PC that I can think of. I was using 16, I installed 17 and neither will open, the splash won't open for either this morning.

Ryzen 7 5800x
32 GB corsair vengeance rgb ram
Zotac RTX 3080
ASUS B550F Gaming
Samsung 970 Evo
Corsair AIO, peripherals, and Fans (sometimes Icue messes things up but in this case stopping it doesn't change anything)

Which version is currently installed?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Currently 17. The latest version of 16 was installed when the issue occured, I uninstalled and tried installing 17 to see if it changed anything. It's Davinci Resolve Studio, if that matters.

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

I've checked, it's not there. It's different behavior from that bug, which I've experienced in the past.

In this path:

C:\Users\Doug\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Preferences

You have a corrupt config.dat file. We keep a backup copy called config.dat.bak

Sometimes that also gets corrupted, but lucky for you, yours is intact.

So in that folder, delete config.dat, then make a copy of the config.dat.bak file, and rename that copy config.dat.

If Resolve still doesn't launch, send another log and NFO file.
