Link subtitle to time in video clips? -

PostTue Feb 23, 2021 2:37 am

Hi there,

I am working on a cross-cultural documentary spoken in Kunwinjku, an Indigenous Australian Language, and have translated approx 1hours 16mins of video with time accurate subtitles.

Now I can understand the content of the videos, I would like to create the story. It would be quicker to do this if the clips could be linked to the subtitles, but still allow me to blade or modify the start and end points of the clips without that effecting the subtitle length. If I link the subtitles to the video clip, I cannot modify the length of the clip without changing the subtitles.

Is anyone aware of a way I could do this?

Thanks in advance,

Alex

What do you want to happen to the subtitle if you shorten the video clip? Do you want the subtitle to start before the video clip if you edit the start of the video clip? That might be confusing to viewers?

You can select only the video clip using an alt-click, even if it's linked to a subtitle track, and then edit the video track separately. If you have a group of linked items, you can use alt-click to select one or any subset of the linked items so that you can work with just that subset.
