Greetings Everyone,

I recently recorded my entire screen using VokoNGScreen Recorder on Manjaro Linux to an mp4 file.

It plays correctly on video players on both Linux and Windows (tried several players)

However, when I load it into Davinci Resolve 16.2.8.005 the video image is severely distorted whether in the source viewer or in the timeline on the cut page as you can see in the screen grab  .

Earlier used VokoScreenNG to record screen on Windows and Davinci Resolve worked flawlessly.

Can any one please help? Thank you in advance for your time.

Check with MediaInfo if your clip is variable in frame rate. If so, it's not fully compatible with Resolve.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

I always recommend hardware recorders for screen capture you intend to edit. They typically offer editing friendly options like DNx and ProRes, whereas software normally doesn't.

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
