Resolve Studio 17 licensing - chicken and egg

PostTue Feb 23, 2021 12:29 am

I upgraded from Resolve 16 to Resolve Studio 17 the other day as I wanted to take advantage of some of the Studio features. So I jump over to see about buying a Studio 17 license, and all the resellers say it's "coming soon" and so even though I've preordered from B&H, I have no license.. and now no working Resolve software.

How does someone like me get out of this chicken & egg situation?

Install v17 free version until your activation key arrives.

Hi Peter - That's a decent workaround, but doesn't allow me to use the plugins that require Studio licensing. Are there any vendors currently selling Studio 17 activation licenses (non-dongle)? I checked both Adorama and BH and they're all listed as coming soon, so it seems like Blackmagic hasn't really released Studio 17 to resellers yet?
