I’ve searched and troubleshooted this for two days and cannot seem to get my my Ultrastudio Monitor 3G to work in DaVinci Resolve.
I finally figured out to install the Desktop Video Application and tried setting that up. I’ve confirmed my cables are correct.
I could see the Device in Preferences and selected it for output.
For a hot minute, I thought I had a signal through it but it was way to zoomed in (4k project but viewer and playback set to 1080p 23.97 and Ultrastudio set to 23.97.
I have calibrated my LG using Calman Home and use an iMac Pro calibrated using DisplayCal to Rec709, but am having trouble with a color match. Have not tried installing a monitor LUT directly into DaVinci resolve but thought I no longer needed to with a hardware lut in the OLED.
I turned on “Use Mac Profile” and also tried it off. Closed projects and restarted between steps.
Last time I got a message on restart saying something about the video device not being able to load or whatever. Searched and searched without a solution.
Prior to this I was using video clean feed with a TB3 to HDMI cable and it was fine, although I was looking for better color and bought the Ultrastudio, but I’m about ready to give up and return it.
What the heck am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
No experience with the 3G, but Decklink cards are known to fail feeding LG OLED TVs. You need a powered HDMI splitter. Fortunately they're cheap, because you may have to try more than one. Or, revert to the Clean Feed option.
Don't use the monitor LUT if you can help it, its as buggy as hell (At least on Windows).
The Ultra 3G is HD max (Not 4k) so maybe try setting up a HD project to test it first.
I had a similar setup with an LG OLED and a Decklink Mini Monitor 4K and it is all working fine, but I do remember getting the LG calibrated took a bit of messing around.
It worked at 1080 23.97 so it means it works, just make the timeline 1080 p 23.97. You can't have 4K or 1080p output higher than 30Hz with this product, it's 1080i50/60 max. Had the same problem with someone else's unit until I figured out it can't work at 1080p50 or 60. We settled for 25 PsF which is interlaced.
