17.0 on Apple Silicon

PostThu Feb 25, 2021 6:28 am

Hi all,

Does anybody knows/checked already if the Resolve Studio 17.0 for Mac released today is a Universal app or I should wait for 17.1 for the native Apple Silicon app?

While the 17.0 Mac app runs over Rosetta, we advise that you stick to the 17.1 release cycle for Apple Silicon based Macs.

This is strange, universal should be support for Intel and Apple Silicon in the same binary, right? Will Intel-releases be 17.0.1, 17.0.2 and so on, while Apple Silicon-releases will be 17.1.0, 17.1.1 and so on? Very confusing.

Please check this clarification.

The 17.1 beta releases offer universal installers - that work natively on M1 and Intel.
The 17.0 releases offer installers similar to 16 and is available for all platforms. The mac installer works natively for Intel, and under Rosetta translation in the M1.
