Viewer error with interlaced video - from v14 to 17 final

In the davinci resolve user configuration options there is an option called "Output single field when paused", according to the manual it does the following:
--
Output single field when paused: This setting will reduce flicker when grading using
a computer monitor or when working with interlaced material. Ordinarily, when viewing
interlaced material in Stop or Pause mode, field one is displayed followed by field two.
Depending on the image, this can result in a flicker on the display. When this option
is enabled, only field one will be shown on the monitor when playback is paused
;
however both fields will be shown when the clips are played.
--

This option has been failing since 2017 (v14).
I've been emailing blackmagic since then and still the problem in version 17 (final) still exists.

The lines do not disappear from the viewfinder.

Does this option work for anyone?

Thanks

dear javier,

i'm fairly new to interlaced footage and the workflows that come with it, but i don't think that "Output single field when paused" is what you are looking for.

because the screenshot you provided just shows two interlaced frames that are combined to a progressive frame. there is no "flickering" thats reffered to in the manual. at least not on the screenshot (obviously).

is your monitor receiving a interlaced or a progressive signal? i think for this option to work you have to output a interlaced signal to your monitor. with a progressive signal there should never be any flickering.

if you are outputting interlaced to your monitor, could you provide us with some footage metadata infos? codec, framerate, where its from and so on...?

Thanks for the reply.

I send a video in version 12.5 and version 17 to see the problem.
This has started to happen in version 14 and it is very uncomfortable to see a screen full of lines if you do not zoom exactly 50%, 100%. Many times you need to create powerwindow and you need to change the zoom.

Please fix this, many televisions still use interlaced signal.

This option is for external monitor connected via Decklink card and working ok.

Thanks Kenzo,
In the video you can see the error.
Before it worked fine on both.

In version 17, this should not be a problem due to the completely revised interlaced engine.
