DR17 install issue

Thought this may be of interest. I have been running DR Studio 16.2.8 on one PC and on the other DR Studio 17 through all the beta's. With the release of 17 I decided to upgrade both to the final version. On the PC I have been using version 17 beta's I followed the routine of uninstalling then installed the final. All worked just fine. Did the same on the PC with 16.2.8 and it did not work. Load stopped when splash page closed. Nothing showing active in Windows it had just closed. Did this several times then decided to reload 16.2.8. Which worked fine. Then just upgraded to Studio 17 without uninstalling and upgrade then worked fine !!

It was my understanding that you only have to uninstall versions of Resolve that is 16.2.7 and prior. So with 16.2.8, I understood that a straight upgrade should just be fine.

The instruction was for DR17 Beta 5 and onwards. I didn't uninstall beta versions before DR 17 Beta 5 and in the past did not uninstall to upgrade. Of interest to me was effectively a clean install did not work.

So you did a clean install and it failed. That's interesting. I have 16.2.8 right now and I'm hoping all I have to do is upgrade it to 17.0 since when I started Resolve, it prompted me that there is an update available to 17.

Yes that is correct. The 16.2.8 that I uninstalled and then installed DR 17 did not work. I re installed 16.2.8 and then let in installed over 16.2.8 and that worked. Make sure you backup your data base though as DR 17 has a new version. On my other PC that I have been using all the 17 betas on I did uninstall as requested and that also worked as instructed. There are differences between the PC's. The one with 16.2.8 is an Intel 4790K with no discrete GPU. The other that I have been using DR 17 beta's on is a Threadripper with 1080Ti GPU.

I have tried to capture logs, and it tells me it has placed on the desktop but there is nothing there.
