Have we really lost all our files?? and recording issue on17

hello

I would really like some advice/insight please. we have been on resolve 16, and my partner clicked on the notification of update to 17. Our database was previously saved on an internal HDD.

Due to ongoing audio issues with resolve 17 - ie after recording with a microphone (previously tested and working fine on other applications eg cubase), the sound wave has come out with several cuts - ie unusable, and I have to record again.

So we decided to go back to 16, and uninstalled everything black magic related. when we reinstalled 16 again, we have not been able to connect the database, or any of our resolve projects. they are not even recognised.

We have been at our wits end with what to do, having lost a year's worth of resolve projects...?!

Not even sure if it is better to just work with 16 again, or 17 and record on different software (obviously also not ideal)

Any advice or help would be extremely appreciated!!

If you don't have a copy or backup of the 16 database prior to the 17 update (you say "previously saved on an internal HDD" -- is that 16 database still there or anywhere?) or .drps or other backups of your projects, you can't revert to 16 and retain access to your projects. The 17 database format is incompatible with 16.

You could re-install 17 and export XML files, and then import those into 16, but that's about it.

HI thanks, we'll look into your suggestion re xml files, but yes, with the apparent incompatability of 17 with 16 files..(??!) and how we've installed, uninstalled, reinstalled 17 (as when we tried just reinstalling 16, it also self updated and audio also became problematic) ...it's not looking hopeful...as somehow affected the original files...

i hope black magic can resolve (unintentional pun) the audio issues at least ...because we have been happy with the software until now..
