MacBook Playback settings

PostFri Feb 26, 2021 5:55 am

Does anybody have settings that work well for playback on a MacBook pro? Mine just doesn't play smoothly.

More details:
2.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7
16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
Radeon Pro 555X 4 GB
Playback render cache is set to smart

Which kind of footage? Timeline settings?
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Studio 19.1.3
MacOS 13.7.4, 2017 iMac, 32 GB, Radeon Pro 580 + eGPU
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM, MacOS 14.7.2
SE, USM G3

Currently it's 60fps real estate footage with text on top of it. Does that help?

I doubt that MBP is fast enough for 60 fps.
Try to set the timeline to 1280x720 for editing and only back to HD again for final delivery.

I’ll try that, thanks! I’ll have to look into a more suitable computer eventually. I’m sure there are threads on finding the right computer already

Even the current entry-level MacBook Air M1 is much faster than yours. The next generation of MacBook Pro should be really fast – if you need a laptop.

That said, you can get much more bang for the buck in a custom-built desktop PC.
