I'm not finding a definitive statement on if we need to uninstall 16 first, or does V17 the installation process do the uninstall. Are there release notes for 17 that address this?

Is a seperate uninstall required?

I'm aware of backing up databases.

The context is uninstalling before a BETA INSTALL.

That is not necessarily required for a RELEASED version.

The clarification still needs to be made here by BlackMagic.

Peter has to state for those upgrading from 16.2.8 to the RELEASED VERSION:

1. Is a database upgrade required?
2. Is an UNINSTALL of 16.2.8 required?

In any case does the RELEASE install process walk you through what is required!

I've just finished installing it on my laptop, without removing V.16.

It is working just fine, much faster, in just a quick look.

A database upgrade is required but you are walked through this and other parts of the install.

Unlike Macs, Windows can mess up installs if you don't uninstall previous versions first. It's up to you. Personally I always uninstall previous versions first. As to the Database, make sure you do a backup of it in version 16.xxx before upgrading to 17. Databases between the two are not compatible and version 17 will ask you to upgrade the Database.

@wd60xxx, David Southern was that a Windows platform you upgraded?
