Smooth Cut does not work on medias with alpha

Smooth Cut on medias with alpha creates weird side effects (cutouts, halos, noise) or remove the alpha channel completely, replacing transparency with a black background.
Does anyone has found a good workaround to keep a clean alpha channel while using a Smooth Cut ?
