I am very new at editing software and a beginner/amateur at best. I started a YouTube outdoor channel and a friend suggested Davinci to me. I downloaded the free version and I have been using 16.2.7 since November. I opened the app on Sunday and I got a popup that said 17.0 was available. I figured that it was an upgrade like my phone would do often so I naively downloaded and installed the upgrade. Now i can not access the program. I have a
Resolve.exe - System error message that says The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix the problem.

I uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. Then I tried the 16.2.8 version many times. Then I tried to install the original download 16.2.7 and still have the same message.

I called BMD and they said there is no tech support for the free version and to come to the forum. I read the Before installing 17.0 thread (after the fact) and all of the advice about backing up that I wish I had done. I just didn't expect an issue. I figured that the popup meant that it was a tested and hopefully flawless transition between the previous version and the new updated version.

I hope someone can help.
