R17 Studio build 23 Burned an Activation

PostTue Mar 02, 2021 2:53 pm

The installation of DaVinci Resolve Studio 17.1 Public Beta 10 burned through the second activation on my key. Before installing 17.1 I ran the uninstaller to remove Beta 6. I'd like it back.

Suggestions?

Good Luck

There are no burned activations.

Please read this FAQ on licensing: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=90190#2

Put another way, one machine was using both activations. To install Resolve on a 2nd machine required cancelling the first activation. I was able to get both machines properly activated after some toggling back and forth. The installer is causing license issues.

Again, activating/deactivating does not discard any usage.

The number of activations in use reflects which machines Resolve thinks you're currently using. Should you have installation/hardware issues - like having to trash a harddisk, you can deactivate licenses from the Help menu and enter the activations anew. The same applies here.

Ultimately yes, however, it effs up the upgrade process forcing a hopskotch activate de-activate situation. It seems pretty obvious that you have no intention of addressing the issue so...

Howard

For clarifty, I'm pasting this section from the Licenses FAQ linked above:
How many machines can I use my activation key on?
Each activation key can be activated twice, for example once on a desktop workstation and another on a laptop. If the license key is activated a third time, then all previous activations of the software will be cleared, and you will need to activate any copy again.

I’ve upgraded my machine - How do I transfer my license from my old machine?
Just enter your activation key again on the new machine after installing DaVinci Resolve Studio. If you have reached your number of activations, all previous activations of the software will be cleared automatically. Alternatively you can choose the Deactivate option from the “Help” menu in DaVinci Resolve.
