Red transcode speeds with the new RTX 30 series of cards
I am just trying to track down an answer to the following question:
I have a (now creaking) 1080Ti and an i9-7960X - Using GPU Debayer and Decompress it can process 8k R3D at full res at an okish 19-20fps.
Without an upgrade to the CPU, can I expect a 3090 to significantly increase this?
I would have assumed the answer to be an obvious yes... but I'm a little thrown by Pudgets benchmarks which shows Red8k>DNxHR HQ to be about 44-45fps regardless of the card (1080Ti all the way up to 3090). I'm guessing they maybe aren't using the GPU debayer/decompression for these tests, so the result is basically the CPU delivering the same results over and over.
But I can't find any good benchmarking for my question, so I'm hoping some here might have some experience to share.
