How do you add a background when using Text+

When I use the normal text function it has a background feature for adding a background behind the text and adjust it and a border.
When using the Text+ version it has no background controls so I see no way to make a box behind my text as I can do with the normal text tool.
How can I do this with the Text+ tool?. I wanted to do this with Text + to get the gradient features that are missing from the normal text tool??
Thanks

You can switch to the Fusion page and merge the Text+ with a Background node with a Rectangle mask.

Ok thanks, I am a bit lost here trying to make your same settings.
My box is covering my text. How to I move the box to be below the text?
And how can I see my background clip in the preview area to help set my colors and look for the title?
Thanks

You can right-click the Merge node and click on "Swap Inputs" or hit Ctrl-T.
If you want to see your other video track in the Fusion page it would probably be best to forget the Text+ Title on the Edit page and just right-click the video clip and choose Open In Fusion, then add your Text+ node and Background node from there.
You could also add an Adjustment clip instead of a Text+ Title and add the Text+ and Background nodes from there.
