Help with .MXF Files

PostThu Mar 04, 2021 5:05 pm

Hello. I am using Davinci Resolve 17 Beta.
I was sent files to edit in MXF format as well as AVI Format.
The problem i am having is with MXF files.

The MXF files were recorded on Panasonic p2 HD camera. (When recording on p2cards the files are separated into audio, video, icon, proxy, folders etc.... the person only sent me the Video and audio folders. I put them into one folder inside of davinci resolve. davinci resolve merged the video files with the corresponding audio files and they are in sync with each other. I thought everything was fine.

I spent a day editing the avi files and today i came back to the mxf folder. All of the videos in the mxf folder are not showing properly. They are all showing large black bars on both sides of the video. Furthermore the video looks like its unnaturally squeezed horizontally to fit this change. It looks to me also like the quality has been lowered.

I tried to upload another mxf video separately with no audio attached to it. At first it was taking up the full screen in full detail then later on it changed into this..i dont know what to call it.... proxy file? With the black bars on the side.

i tried to render the file to see if when i rendered it, it would revert back to the right size. It does not..

I don't know what to do. Please help

When i look at the metadata of the mxf file in Davinci it says Video: p2DVC pro 29.9700 DF fps 1920x1080 4ch

My viewer is set to Fit

I am using a Dell Inspiron
With a Core i5 8400 Intergrated graphics
i have 32 gigs of ram
1tb harddrive space

This camera uses a 4x3 sensor. The recording is anamoprhic. You can unsqueeze it in the clip attributes or when the clips are edited onto the timeline you can unsqueeze using the Inspector.
