Broken audio track : L OK but noise, pops and repeats in R

PostThu Mar 04, 2021 6:21 pm

Hey everybody !

Got this super weird error out of a sudden in Davinci Resolve 17.0

I just opened a project I've been working on a few days ago. Everything was peachy when I closed it and now as soon as I opened i noticed that one of my stereo tracks is behaving super weird :

The Left channel is just fine, plays what's in the file. The Right channel however is playing back noises, pops, weird artefacts, pieces of other audio from the session chopped up and on repeat. It's all over the place.
However, the problem is only there in ONE of the files on that channel. The other takes, later in the projects, are fine.
The file itself is OK, I even reexported it from Pro Tools and replaced the clip in Media Pool.
Noteworthy : it's part of a multicam clip.
Corrupt multicam clip ?

I've tried a bunch of things but just can't seem to figure it out.

Anybody had that or something similar happen ?

Hello Andrè,

I have exactly the same problem
no matter whether I open the project on an HP Z4 G4 Win10
or on a Macbook Pro, the same error occurs.

Updated from 16 to 17 the project worked, then I opened the Fairlight page
and went back to the edit page, since then the audio of the multicam
has not played correctly any more.
Hope to get back to you soon from Blackmagic.
Best regards
Thomas

My own practice is to keep usable audio out of Multicam clips. Add them manually under the Multicam.

It's just easier to mix in Fairlight this way.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I encountered the same problem and posted it on Reddit. Put the link here as an additional reference for the DR team.
