Media management tool dumps everything in *project name*

The media management tool in 17 now moves everything into a folder named after the *project name*.

I can see how this would be useful at times but is quite annoying at others.

For example, I have a project on my server, that I want to pull clips from. I just grab those clips from said project and copy them into my current working project. I then use the media management tool to move those files to my laptop since it doesn't always have access to a server. I would use the preserve hierarchy option to have these files sit in the same folder structure on my laptop as on the server.

Something like d:\projects\videos\why\does\resolve\do this

This all worked great in 16.

But now, in 17 it moves everything to d:\*project name*\projects\videos\why\does\resolve\do this

Super annoying since i now have to manually move these files to the correct location and relink them in resolve.

Surely people who want these files in *project name* would create a folder called *project name*.

I imagine this was designed to be helpful.. but I think for many of us, it's not.

Am I missing something here, is there a better way to do this? I know about the clone tool, but that just works on folders.

There is a checkbox to preserve hierarchy, is that what u need?

I mention that feature in my post. It still dumps everything in *project name* and then the rest of the path.

Another example: i record vo in resolve, which then lives in resolves capture folder. I want to move it into my project folder. So i select the folder using the tool. Then it saves it to /vo/*project name*/ instead of just /vo/
